american_glad_season2.jpgThe countdown to Season 2 has us just a little over a month away from the premiere on May 12th so why not post up some of the info I have gathered in the off-season.  The first thing I should mention is American Gladiators has moved the show to another much larger facility other than the Sony Studios where Season 1 was filmed.  Taping for Season 2 has been moved to the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena located at 3939 Figueroa St. close to the University of Southern California (USC).  The arena has around 13,000 seats and all events are said to be spread out so there will be no need to re-arrange the layout during the show.  Instead each event will have it’s own space on the arena floor.

For Season 2 we will also see new events such as Depth, Sway Poles, Side Swipe and maybe a few others.  No word on exactly what these events entail but expect them to be big.  Season 2 begins taping today April 8th at the arena and will last all month long and maybe into the early part of May when the finals will be filmed.  The two-hour premiere episode will be May 12th with episodes there after being 90 minutes in length.

Yes there will be new gladiators, two of them have been confirmed.  Matt Morgan and Erin Toughill both MMA competitors will be added to the mix.  No word yet on which Gladiators got the boot but expect some to not return for season 2.  There has also been speculation the two winners from last season will be American Gladiators.  This could be the case but if you remember the hosts said they would have the opportunity to compete to be Gladiators so this does not guarantee them a spot.  We will just have to wait and see with them.

Check back for more updates.
