Debuting in it’s regular Monday night timeslot Gladiators was the #1 non-sports tv program with an average of 10.9 million viewers for their key demographic of adults 18-49 according to Nielsen Media Research. The episode was also NBC’s highest 18-49 rating for this time period for the last 10 months.
According to NBC Gladiators had extraordinary competition, especially for young male viewers from Fox’s BCS football. Even with the football Gladiators surged by a full rating point, or 23 percent, in adults 18-49 from half-hour to half-hour and increased its total viewership by 1.8 million persons or 18 percent (to 11.8 million from 10.0 million). In its final half-hour from 8:30-9 p.m., Gladiators topped the debut of “Dance Wars” in total viewers, adults, men and women 18-34, adults, men and women 18-49 and adults and men 25-54.
What does all this mean, well it means NBC has found themselves a writerless hit unaffected by any strike so we should definately see more Gladiators next season.

I applaud this remake of a great program and i think the Gladiators are wonderful, but i think another great choice for a Gladiator would have been Raw Leiba. I read that he was called in for an audition but was doing “Street Fighter”at the time, its a shame but when i look at the one gladiator of color i just think Mr Leiba would have been a equal if not better choice.
