Wow!!! That’s what you say when you are blown away by the amazing body of the newest gladiator, Phoenix. Our friends at MonstersandCritics.com got a chance to sit down with some of the Gladiators at a breakfast junket recently in stories part one and part two. Besides learning what has Hulk’s interest and what the Gladiators eat regularly, they got to snap a few pictures. And did they deliver! Part two of the story has several photos of Toa, Wolf and our new favorite Phoenix. You’ll notice she goes from the girl next door in the first photo to the smokin’ girl next door by the third picture. Enjoy! This season looks like the Gladiators have stepped up the beauty!

Hulk Hogan played the role of Bacchus on February 3rd as it marked the 40th anniversary of the Bacchus parade at Mardi Gras. The parade was 1 of 54 throughout Mardi Gras this year.  Along with Hulk the musical guest for the Bacchus parade was KC and the Sunshine Band and Three Dog Night.

hulk_hogan_bacchus.jpgFound this little nugget of information for all you party animals heading down to Mardi Gras this year in New Orleans.  Hulk Hogan will reign as Bacchus for the 40th anniversary of the parade which was started back in 1968.  The Bacchus parade will be 1 of 54 parades this year compared to 50 in 2007.  I’ve been told it’s one of the best parades during Mardi Gras with  musical guests KC and the Sunshine Band and Three Dog Night.  The parade starts 5:15 pm on Sunday February 3rd.

According to NBC executives the 12 Gladiators were tested for steroid use before they could appear on the show but host Hulk Hogan who has admitted to steroid use in the 90’s was not mentioned in the testing.   Along with the testing, which was part of their medical examinations to become a Gladiator they were also required to sign a document saying they were clean and could be tested at any time during the season.  NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman confirmed the testing but declined to comment further on the matter.  Some NBC insiders say the testing was done more for medical reasons then anything else.

Do you think they would kick a Gladiator off the show if he tested positive for steroids, I doubt it.  It’s not like they are trying to break any home run records here.

American Gladiators has caught the eye of mainstream sports giant ESPN, well, their Page 2 section at least.  Lead columnist Bill Simmons must have been too busy, too afraid or maybe just too smart as 5′9″ writer Sam Alipour was sent to Stage 30 at Sony Pictures Studios to experience the behind the scenes action of AG.

Check out video evidence of this weekend warrior’s encounter with childhood hero Hulk Hogan and the beatings he receives from 6′8″ Justice on the Pyramid and the sexy MMA pro, Crush, on the joust podium.  He also provides a humorous account of his visit as well in his column.

hulk_hogan1.jpgAccording to Interbridge.com, Hulk will be spending January 7th (the day after the premiere episode) sitting down and talking with Regis and Kelly. Let’s hope he’s discussing what great ratings that the 2 hour long premier episode expects to pull in viewers wise.  Whatever the ratings it will be a good show.

It’s not your average sound stage, it’s bigger with 12,000 square feet of room for the Gladiators to roam.  Recently Access Hollywood was on the set talking with Hulk Hogan who said this is the biggest sound stage he has ever been on.

american_glad_logo.gifThis has to be a dream come true for all you American Gladiator fans out there who watched the show back in the 80’s, I know I am excited to see this show coming back to primetime TV.  NBC is bringing the game show American Gladiators back to its former glory with the first episode premiering on Sunday January 6th.  Hosting this all-american show will be none other then Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea) and Laila Ali.  What’s more American then wrestling icon Hulk Hogan and boxer Laila Ali, being the daughter of one of the greatest American boxers of all time does not hurt either although she has made a name for herself in the boxing world.

Expect to see old events that made the show famous like Human Cannonball, The Joust, The Wall, Hang Tough, and The Eliminator on the new show but bigger and better.  If you are wondering about the new Gladiators well so am I as no details or names have emerged.

Check back for more details…
