The countdown to Season 2 has us just a little over a month away from the premiere on May 12th so why not post up some of the info I have gathered in the off-season.  The first thing I should mention is American Gladiators has moved the show to another much larger facility other than the Sony Studios where Season 1 was filmed.  Taping for Season 2 has been moved to the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena located at 3939 Figueroa St. close to the University of Southern California (USC).  The arena has around 13,000 seats and all events are said to be spread out so there will be no need to re-arrange the layout during the show.  Instead each event will have it’s own space on the arena floor. 

For Season 2 we will also see new events such as Depth, Sway Poles, Side Swipe and maybe a few others.  No word on exactly what these events entail but expect them to be big.  Season 2 begins taping today April 8th at the arena and will last all month long and maybe into the early part of May when the finals will be filmed.  The two-hour premiere episode will be May 12th with episodes there after being 90 minutes in length.  (more…)

According to 411mania.com, the popular MMA fighter Gina Carano (aka Crush) is choosing to protect her facial asset and she will not be participating in the upcoming February 16th EliteXC card.  There are many rumors flying around about disagreements between Carano’s camp and Elite XC officials but as long as she is a favorite gladiator, NBC will most likely apply pressure for her to stay out of the ring.  She’s become an asset to NBC and they want to protect their investment.  Couple that with other prime-time opportunities and it may be awhile before she puts her face at risk again in a fight. We have known for a few days Gina Carano, Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter was going to be one of the new Gladiators but we were unsure of which one.  Well it has been confirmed she will be gladiator ‘Crush’, a new name added to the mix for more then one reason I am sure.  Gina Carano is currently a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter with a record of 5-0-0 and a fight as recent as September 15 of this year against Tonya Evinger who she defeated via a choke submission.  Check out Gina’s biography for more info, photos and fun facts about her life.
