Here we go Gladiator fans, tonight on NBC at 7p.m. central time American Gladiators returns for  Season 2 with a two-hour premiere that’s been advertised as bigger and better.  This season NBC has moved the show to the L.A. Sports Arena, added seven new events, added eight new Gladiators including Phoenix, Jet, Rocket and The Beast, a 7 foot-tall Gladiator putting 6′8″ Justice to shame.  This season there will be 20 male and 20 female contenders competing for the $100,000 prize money.

The two-hour premiere kicks off with single mom and black belt Melissa Trinidad going up against firefighter and Chernobyl survivor Elena Maskalik.  For the men we have grocery store owner Toby Gordin going up against carpenter Randee Haynes. 

The second hour of the show features Para-Olympian John Sciliano battling special education teacher Gerry Garcia. On the women’s side we have Air Force Major Vanessa Warren going up against bartender Nikki Key.

With all the new location of the show, events and Gladiators this is shaping up to be another big season.  Make sure to watch on NBC at 7p.m. central.

The days are getting numbered to the Season 2 premiere on May 12th of American Gladiators. Just the other day NBC came out with the Season 2 promo video or commercial as some like to call it. The whole theme of the promo was bigger and much bigger with the Gladiators being larger than life figures roaming around different cities. From the promo we can see that Titan, Crush, Wolf, Venom, and Justice return for Season 2. Events like Hang Tough, Joust, Hit & Run and the Gauntlet will be back as well. We will just have to wait a little while longer for all the news to come out about season 2 so check back often and soon for all the updates.

The countdown to Season 2 has us just a little over a month away from the premiere on May 12th so why not post up some of the info I have gathered in the off-season.  The first thing I should mention is American Gladiators has moved the show to another much larger facility other than the Sony Studios where Season 1 was filmed.  Taping for Season 2 has been moved to the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena located at 3939 Figueroa St. close to the University of Southern California (USC).  The arena has around 13,000 seats and all events are said to be spread out so there will be no need to re-arrange the layout during the show.  Instead each event will have it’s own space on the arena floor. 

For Season 2 we will also see new events such as Depth, Sway Poles, Side Swipe and maybe a few others.  No word on exactly what these events entail but expect them to be big.  Season 2 begins taping today April 8th at the arena and will last all month long and maybe into the early part of May when the finals will be filmed.  The two-hour premiere episode will be May 12th with episodes there after being 90 minutes in length.  (more…)

Are you ready for more American Gladiators this Summer, well get ready because NBC has announced Seaon 2 will premiere with a two-hour event on Monday May 12th at 7p.m. central time. Normal Monday night episodes will be 90-minutes long this year starting May 19th on NBC. And yes there will be new second season events and new Gladiators that will be announced in the coming weeks. One of the new Gladiators has already been confirmed, Matt Morgan from TNA wrestling will join the cast.  No word yet on who will be leaving if any. Check back often and soon for updates.

NBC has released all the official information for the Season 2 casting call for contenders. Check out the press release below for all the information, dates and times.

Press Release: The producers of NBC’s hit series “American Gladiators” (Mondays, 8-9 p.m. ET) are searching for potential contenders and Gladiators for season two of the high-octane hit series. The casting calls will take place in Los Angeles on Jan. 26, Denver, Austin and Chicago on Feb. 2 and Scottsdale, New York City and Orlando on Feb. 9.

“To all those gladiator-maniacs out there we are looking for strong, determined individuals from all walks of life who have a lot of heart and soul, said Hulk Hogan, host of ‘American Gladiators.’ If you think you have what it takes we look forward to seeing you bring the heat – brother!”

With NBC giving the greenlight for Season 2 of American Gladiators this means the show will need 24 new contenders so casting is set to begin immediately.  Casting for Season 2 starts January 27th from 10-4p.m at the Venice Beach Gold’s Gym in Venice, California.  Other casting calls will be on February 2 in Denver, Chicago and Austin and February 9 in New York City, Scottsdale, AZ and Orlando.  Times for the February 2 & 9 casting calls have yet to be determined. 

If you are unable to make these casting calls you can always send in a video with a maximum of 5 minutes on the tape in VHS, DVD or mini-DV format.  Video tapes must be sent in by February 11th.  For all the casting information, dates and times along with updates check out NBC’s website.

I guess all it takes is two episodes to get renwed for another season, well at least for NBC who has given the greenlight for American Gladiators second season. The strong ratings for the first two episodes sealed the deal as NBC could not resist. Read all about in the press release below from NBC.
